Small field crickets (Gryllus assimilis) are among the most popular and proven feeder insects in terrariums. They are characterized by a high protein content, good digestibility, and their robust and active lifestyle, and are very well accepted by many terrarium animals.

Due to their pronounced running and jumping behavior, field crickets particularly effectively stimulate the natural hunting instinct of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and small mammals.
