Small field crickets (Gryllus assimilis) are among the most popular and proven feeder insects in terrariums. They are characterized by a high protein content, good digestibility, and their robust and active lifestyle, and are very well accepted by many terrarium animals.
Due to their pronounced running and jumping behavior, field crickets particularly effectively stimulate the natural hunting instinct of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and small mammals. They are suitable both as a main food source and as a supplementary food and are ideal for a varied, species-appropriate diet.
Compared to house crickets, field crickets are somewhat stronger and more resilient, making them particularly durable and easy to care for. Thanks to the various sizes available, they can be fed to both young and adult animals.
